Joe Kubert. September 18th 1926 August 12th 2012
Arriving in New York as a babe when his family emigrated there from Poland Joe Kubert by the age of 13 was working in comics. In 1943 he started as Hawkman artist at DC and was to become an inspiring, distinct and influential part of the US comics landscape, working in fantasy, super-hero, adventure, military, and western comics.
His drawing is distinctive and personal. His storytelling techniques cinematic, flowing and dramatic.
In the ‘60s he created The Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art.
